CRC Student Orientation
Orientation is important to both the university and the students. It is the day for everyone to look forward to. On the one hand, Chiang Rai Campus, University of Phayao, has great opportunities to officially welcome new students to the Campus and to introduce them to the services the Campus has to offer. On the other hand, new students are more likely to have a clearer view of their chosen majors while, at the same time, have a good chance to make friends and build connections for their future career. Orientation is, thus, one of the key success factors that the University of Phayao, like other well-established universities worldwide, deploys to ensure the high quality education (SDG4) students, parents, and stakeholders can look up to with pride.
On June 18, Chiang Rai Campus, led by Associate Professor Dr. Tipchan Wongchanta, Director, organized a New Student Orientation Day. The main objective is to let new students know University of Phayao’s educational system, rules and regulations, and many other related services so that the students could live and learn at Chiang Rai Campus with clear direction and confidence.
Dr. Wongchanta also pointed out the expected role of University of Phayao’s students in helping or empowering communities outside with wisdom created within. “Wisdom for Community Empowerment,” the determination of University of Phayao, was, in other words, heartily reiterated by Dr. Wongchanta. Discussed also were the Vision, Value, and Organizational Culture of Chiang Rai Campus. According to Dr. Wongchanta, the Vision of Chiang Rai Campus reads, “Collective Wisdom for Sustainable Community Development,” the Value comes from the abbreviation of Chiang Rai Campus (CRC) having the first C stands for Collectivity, the R for Responsibility, and the final C for Congeniality, and the CRC Organizational Culture is “The IIO Totality,” having the first I for “I-for-Myself,” the second I for “I-for-others,” and the O for “Others-for-me.” When used together with good conscience, these Vision, Value, and Culture of Chiang Rai Campus, will, according to Dr. Wongchanta, surely bring good fortunes to the practitioners (students and staff members alike), both at professional level and for personal fulfilment.
Mr. Supote Manasukh, acting head for administrative affairs, greeted the new students with a good message on how to successfully live and learn at Chiang Rai Campus. Important rules and regulations to ensure safety, comfort, and conveniences for students were introduced.
Mr. Phanuphong Moolchanta, a computer technical officer, helped orient new students into the effective use of UP Account for WiFi access and many other communication technologies of the University of Phayao (and Chiang Rai Campus definitely included) such as the REG system, email, OneDrive, and Microsoft Teams. These communication technologies, indeed, make the student life much easier.
Ms. Kanjana Potawee, an educational service officer, touched upon services related to the University of Phayao’s quality education administration, from start to finish. Given was such information as how to select majors at the time of admissions, how to register for classes and check grades during the courses of their study, and how to prepare oneself for graduation.
Finally, Ms. Wichida Rungrueng, an administrative officer, talked about the UP Rim Kok Residence of Chiang Rai Campus, where students can stay over when they come for classes on weekends. Information of the UP Rim Kok Residence can be found at: http://www.crc.up.ac.th/en/facilities.php, telephone: 0 5315 2152.
