Thailand Quality Award: TQA
A university aspiring to be internationally recognized for its quality, transparency, and integrity, to name just a few positive attributes, normally seeks for international standards so that it has a clear and “professionally approved” direction in its internal management and administration. Thailand Quality Award (TQA) is one of those frameworks that aim for performance excellence of an organization. Wishing to create wisdom for sustainable development of surrounding communities, University of Phayo then rigorously adopts the widely-accepted TQA’s principles to enhance its international outlook and public recognition.
On April 11, 2022, Chiang Rai Campus, led by Associate Professor Dr. Tipchan Wongchanta, organized a workshop on Thailand Quality Award (TQA). The main objectives are 1) to familiarize the CRC staff members with the TQA’s criteria, and 2) to write the organizational profile for Chiang Rai Campus, according to the TQA’s guidelines.
In this regard, Associate Professor Dr. Chutima Thamraksa from BU International, Bangkok University, kindly shared her insights into TQA with CRC staff members.
Discussed were the TQA’s 11 core values and concepts:
1. Visionary Leadership
2. Customer-Driven Excellence
3. Organizational & Personal Learning
4. Valuing Employees and Partners
5. Agility
6. Focus on the Future
7. Managing for Innovation
8. Management by Fact
9. Societal Responsibility
10. Focus on Results and Creating Value
11. Systems Perspective
Finally, the workshop ended with how to apply the aforementioned core values and concepts to the 7 fundamental elements of TQA, which include:
1. Leadership
2. Strategy
3. Customer
4. Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management)
5. Workforce

The knowledge and experiences gained from the workshop beautifully pave the way for the next and productive move of Chiang Rai Campus, and thus, University of Phayao at large.
