Art and Craft for Local Economic Development

On December 19, 2023, Chiang Rai Campus organized a workshop on “Art and Craft for Local Economic Development.” The main purposes of the workshop were to enable the local people to earn extra income from craft making, to promote local art, and to preserve cultural identity.

Chiang Rai Campus had an honor from Ms. Ratri Intapa, a freelance local artist, to conduct the workshop which was open for staff members of Chiang Rai Campus and the public. The participants had a good chance to learn how to make key chains, bags, and many other accessories with art and craft designs. Indeed, art and craft making has been an important part of the local economy and cultural identity. 

As it was held during the time of the Chiang Rai Province’s big annual event, “Chiang Rai Art and Flower Festival 2023” (December 17, 2023 – January 9, 2024), the workshop was well received by those who came to visit the Flower Festival. Many of them participated in the workshop and left with their own craft making as souvenir from Chiang Rai Campus.
